We are aware that you may have many questions
about what to expect when seeing a specialist. Let us
explain to you what a periodontist is, and what you can expect
when you see us.
What is a Periodontist
A periodontist
is a dental specialist who is an expert in the
prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases of the
gum and bone that are caused by bacteria. In
addition, periodontists treat gum recession and place
dental implants. Approximately 75 percent of all
Americans have some form of periodontal disease, known
by many as gum disease. If left untreated, these
usually painless diseases can result in tooth
loss.
Your First Visit is Important and Informative
The first visit
is an opportunity for you to learn about us, and for us
to become more familiar with you and your needs.
We will perform a thorough examination of your teeth,
mouth and gums. After the exam, you will be fully
informed of our findings and recommended treatment
options. Adequate time will be available for you to
ask questions. We strive to keep you informed
every step of the way.
Uncompromising Safety
Infection control in our office is also very important to us. To protect our patients and ourselves, we strictly maintain sterilization and cross contamination processes using standards recommended by the American Dental Association (ADA), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and the Center for Disease Control (CDC).
Training & Expertise
As your dental health professionals, we want you to be confident knowing that we are a team of highly trained and skilled clinicians. We pride ourselves in providing the care you need to keep your smile healthy. To give you the best possible service and results, we are committed to continual education and learning. We attend dental lectures, meetings, and dental conventions to stay informed of new techniques, the latest products, and the newest equipment that a modern dental office can utilize to provide state-of-the-art dental care. Also, being members of various professional dental associations helps us to stay abreast of the changes and recommendations for our profession.
State of the Art Care
Like other areas
of medicine and dentistry, periodontics is advancing at
an extraordinary rate. We can correct conditions
today that were not treatable less than ten years
ago. For example, regenerative techniques exist to
help restore lost bone. Plastic surgical
procedures may permit coverage of receded roots.
Dental implants may be placed when teeth are lost.
We pride ourselves on taking advanced training in the
field of periodontics and implants. Dr. Weisglass
attends between 60 and 100 hours each year in continuing
education courses
We Treat You Gently
Our goal is to
render periodontal care without fear, pain, or
anxiety. Local anesthesia (Novocain) is used to
block sensations, allowing treatment to be performed
comfortably. Dr. Weisglass is fully trained in the
use of nitrous oxide and intravenous conscious sedation
which can be used to help relax an anxious patient.
Fees and Payments
Before you begin
treatment an estimate will be given. We make every
effort to keep down the cost of your dental care.
Our front desk personnel will help you develop a payment
plan that is mutually acceptable. We ask that all
our patients take care of the fees for the initial
visit and maintenance visits. The office accepts
checks and VISA®, MASTERCARD®, AMERICAN EXPRESS®, and
DISCOVER® cards.
Insurance
The percentage
of coverage depends upon the specific insurance
plan. Different carriers have different fee
schedules. An insurance company may have a reduced
fee schedule for dental services that may be less than
the actual charges, resulting in lower coverage for
you. We have no control over this situation.
The level of reimbursement is a direct result of
the plan selected by your employer. No insurance
company will pay 100% of dental costs. As a
courtesy to our patients, we will process any insurance
forms. Once we receive a predetermination of
benefits from the insurance company, we will accept it
as partial payment. You will be responsible for
the remaining balance.
New Patients
We always
welcome referrals from our patients and can accommodate
special needs by prior arrangements.
Office Hours
Our Office Hours
are by appointment only.
